HOW LONG WILL I BE IN JAIL?
The amount of time someone spends in custody of local law enforcement differsdepending on how many other people have been detained at the same time and how cooperative those individuals are with law enforcement officials. Inmates can not be released prior to documenting their fingerprints and taking a mug shot, which may take a few hours to complete.
WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW?
The staff at the Sedgwick County Detention Facility are not permitted to recommend bail bond agent services, so remember to contact the bail bond experts at Air Capital Bail Bonds to make bail now.
If your vehicle was impounded during your arrest, you will need to contact the arresting agency in order to determine where your vehicle is being held. You may need to contact the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office Records Section at 660-3888 or the Wichita Police Impound at 303-8222.
Inmate property may be discharged to a party designated by the person in custody. The person receiving the property must present photo Identification to be given the personal property of an inmate.
Offenders may also release money to people outside the facility via debit cards. After the inmate spends twenty-four hours in the facility, their debit card will be charged $2.50, and this charge will reoccur once per week. Someone wishing to pick up a debit card from the facility will be required to produce photo identification before a deputy.
All outbound phone calls are made collect, and if an emergency phone call is made to the facility the inmate will be informed and they can then make a collect call in return.
Inmates are permitted to have one hour-long on-site visitation period per week. On-site visitation hours are Monday-Friday 1:00 PM-5:30 PM and 7:00 PM-9:00 PM. However, visitations are not authorized during shift changes 2:30 PM-3:30 PM or meal times 5:30 PM-7:00 PM.
